Product Composition



Zinc gluconate is the salt of gluconic acid. It is required in small amount. It is used as in the form of lozenges to provide relief from the common cold. Zinc gluconate is also involved in treating the frequent diarrhoea and in oral rehydration solution. Though it helps to reduce the severity of the diarrhoea.

Mechanism of Action

Zinc gluconate had been used to increase immunity against the viral attacks by interfering with the cleavage and adhesion of rhinovirus thus it protects the membrane from the toxins which is produced by the virus.



Pharmacokinetics

Absorption- It is absorbed from small intestine with the help of carrier mediated pathway
Protein Binding- It is mainly bound to albumin about 60-70%
Metabolism- It is metabolized in the liver after releasing its ions in the enterocytes
Excretion- It is excreted via feces
